1. Information we collect

On this website:if you use the contact form, we collect your name, email address, and the message you send us. We use this only to reply to your enquiry. We also use Vercel Analytics for aggregate, privacy-friendly traffic statistics (page views, referrers, device type) - it does not use cookies or track you individually across sites. We store your theme preference (light/dark) in your browser's local storage; this never leaves your device.

In the JalKhata app: if your business signs up, we (and the business account you belong to) collect the information needed to run the app - your name, phone number or email used to sign in, and the business data you or your team enter, such as customer names and addresses, delivery records, stock levels, and invoices. This data belongs to the business using JalKhata; we process it on their behalf to provide the service.

2. How we use information

• To respond to enquiries sent through the contact form or by email/WhatsApp
• To provide, maintain, and improve the JalKhata app for signed-up businesses
• To send service-related communication (e.g. account or billing notices)
• To understand aggregate site usage so we can improve this website

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for advertising.

3. Sharing with third parties

We share data only with the service providers that help us operate:

• Resend - to deliver contact-form emails to our support inbox
• Supabase - to authenticate users of the JalKhata app
• Neon (Postgres) and Vercel- to host the app's database and infrastructure

Each of these providers only receives the data necessary to perform their function and is contractually restricted from using it for any other purpose. We do not share your data with third parties for their own marketing.

4. Data retention

Contact-form messages are kept only as long as needed to resolve your enquiry. Business data in the JalKhataapp is retained for as long as the business's account is active, and is deleted or anonymised within a reasonable period after account closure, except where we are required to retain it for legal or accounting reasons.

5. Your rights

You can ask us to access, correct, or delete the personal information we hold about you by writing to hello@jalkhata.in. If your data was entered into the app by a business you deal with (for example, as one of their customers), please contact that business directly, as they control that data; we process it only on their instructions.

6. Security

We use industry-standard measures - encrypted connections, access controls, and reputable infrastructure providers - to protect the data we hold. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we work to protect your information to the best of our ability.

7. Children's privacy

JalKhata is a business tool and is not directed at, or knowingly used by, children under 18.

8. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the product evolves. We'll update the “last updated” date above when we do, and for significant changes we'll make reasonable efforts to notify active account holders.
